What is IAHSS?
IAHSS was founded in 1968 to respond to the needs of the burgeoning professions of healthcare security and safety.
Representing over 1,800 individuals in Australia the US and other countries, IAHSS is the answer to your questions and a resource for your institution. With a proven 35-year track record, IAHSS has certified over 40,000 healthcare security and safety personnel.
Based upon international training standards, certification is the best means to ensure that you and your staff understand and can implement the important functions within your healthcare facility on both a daily basis and when the unexpected occurs.
IAHSS offers certification for healthcare security officers in three areas: Basic, Advanced and Supervisor.

The Basic, Advanced, and Supervisor Training Manuals are an essential part of the IAHSS comprehensive training program and the most up-to-date educational resources for today's professionals. The IAHSS Program of Distinction is the first level of the association's overall department accreditation program. The program recognizes healthcare security and safety departments within healthcare facilities that have achieved and maintained a minimum percentage of IAHSS certified security personnel.
Risk Assessment Toolkit
Each healthcare institution, regardless of location or size, should conduct an initial and annual risk assessment. This IAHSS toolkit provides what you need to identify vulnerabilities and threats to your institution and the steps required to reduce or mitigate loss.
Training Briefs CD
These 10-15 minute, quick and easy, basic training segments are ideal for use alone, at department staff meetings, or in any other presentation setting. The briefs can also be used as a refresher for staff to insure that competency is maintained. There are 11 sessions on the CD which can be presented by PowerPoint at a meeting or printed and given to the officer for review.

Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA)
Through the IAHSS Commission on Certification, directors of security, safety, emergency preparedness and risk management administrators can achieve the highly coveted CHPA designation.
Not only does this signify a high level of competence, it also demonstrates the individual's commitment to excellence and continuing study. IAHSS awards the CHPA-F designation for Fellowship to qualifying candidates.

International Healthcare Security and Safety Foundation
This educational and research entity is dedicated to the professional advancement of healthcare security, safety, emergency preparedness and risk management administrators.
IHSSF awards up to 3 scholarships annually to students in programs related to healthcare security and safety in accredited university or college degree programs.
Through its annual awards program, the IHSSF also recognizes and promotes overall excellence and outstanding contributions to the IAHSS and/or to the field of healthcare security, safety or risk management

Available to individuals currently employed in management and supervisory positions within a healthcare facility. Individuals may be contract employees with the facility or employed by a proprietary firm.
Available to IAHSS certified healthcare security and safety officers and individuals currently pursuing a degree in a related field and who are not eligible for other categories of membership. Individuals may be contract employees with the facility or employed by a proprietary firm.
Gain access to security and safety decision makers. Open to individuals who work outside a healthcare institution providing products and/or services or who are no longer actively employed in a management or supervisory position.
